This wild yamadori Colorado blue spruce (Picea pungens) was bought from Harold Sazaki, who has spent many years collecting fabulous material from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Stephen brought it into the school initially last fall for design analysis, and he worked on some of the deadwood then. He brought it again in March for help with the heavy engineering - to take full advantage of the best trunk line, the lower left hand branch needed to be twisted as well as bent in order to bring it toward the front. He brought the top section of trunk forward and compacted it as well. The next job will probably be to swing the thin lower right hand branch around to the left and to graft some of its foliage onto the left hand branch to hide improve the long bare section.
